Compiler Guide

Your guide to compilers on the PS2. Problems with particular setups known bugs/work arounds for various compilers can be added here.
gnu-ee-gcc-binutils
This is the GNU compiler for the emotion engine (mips r5900) chip. This is the main processing chip for the ps2. The compiler was nicely provided by snsys.com who probably would have preferred to keep in inhouse. However, the compiler is GPL'd so they had to release it.

There seems to be a couple of versions of this compiler online. The file iop-gcc-binutils.zip is the original from nsys.com. The file gnu-ee-binutils-gcc-1.0.tar.gz and gnu-ee-binutils-gcc-1.1.tar.gz have been patched to work under a linux environment.

Both Compilers are available from ps2.sourceforge.net

gnu-iop-gcc-binutils
This is the GNU compiler for the IO processor (mips r3000) of the ps2. It is also the same processor found in the original play station. If your knew to PS2 developing then its probably not worth playing with this compiler until you've mastered the ee compiler.

The compiler is available from ps2.sourceforge.net

Wire's asm5900
If you'd rather use assembler as your language of choice. I really don't know much about this compiler. There is an example of using this compiler on Duke's site too. Its the printf example. The next version of wire's compiler should be able to compile the 3stars demo also on duke's page.

You can find the latest version of tihs on Duke's site. See below.
